The new station at Ashley Down, on the Filton bank in Bristol, was scheduled to open on 28 September.

Funded by the West of England Mayoral Combined Authority, with contributions from GWR and Bristol City Council, Ashley Down is the second new railway station to open in the city in 100 years, following Portway Park & Ride on the Severn Beach line in August 2023. The new station, on the site of its predecessor which closed in 1964, is served by Great Western Railway’s hourly stopping service between Bristol Temple Meads and Filton Abbey Wood.

Construction work on the station, which is part of MetroWest Phase Two, started in March 2023 and has been carried out by Network Rail and contractor Bam Nuttall. This phase of MetroWest also includes the reopening of the Henbury line to passenger services, with new stations at North Filton and Henbury.
