A DIGEST OF THE MAIN CHANGES ON NETWORK RAIL, LONDON UNDERGROUND AND NORTHERN IRELAND RAILWAYS INFRASTRUCTURE DURING DECEMBER 2018 (ACTUALLY UP TO 2 JANUARY 2019); COMPILED BY MARTYN BRAILSFORD OF THE BRANCH LINE SOCIETY (WWW.BRANCHLINE.UK). BOOK FOUR REFERENCES REFER TO THE NEW FOURTH EDITION.
December, as always, is a busy time; this year saw a large number of platform extension works take place for either the IET Programme or the Great North Rail Project. Both York and Manchester ROCs took on further responsibilities and electrification continued in Scotland and to a smaller extent on the Western. However, only two significant trackwork enhancement projects took place, those at Wellingborough and Trimley.
